My name is Ferry Desprianto Binusian 2023 (2301961701). I am a student of Binus Hotel Management Jakarta. I am from batch 2023 and this is my first time joining a competition. I would like to share my experience when I participated in the Hospitour Cooking Competition 2021.

At first, I knew the competition from Chef Nurul and I decided to join the competition. Hospitour is a competition held by Pelita Harapan University (UPH). This event has many competitions about Hotel management. Hospitour has many participates from another university. This year’s Hospitour has a theme ( STRONG: Supporting Tourism to Restart Over the New Ground) which aimed to support UMKM in Indonesia.

Because Indonesia has many traditional foods, I decided to make Woku and Dabu-dabu Sambal from Manado. We have to be inspired by UMKM in Indonesia, and i chose UMKM @Woku.Manado as my inspiration.

Woku is one of the best foods in Indonesia. Because of that, I made a Pan-seared Tiger Prawn with Woku Sauce, Pandan Rice, Sauteed Cauliflower, and Sambal Dabu-dabu.

The competition started from June 29, 2021, until July 1, 2021. We had to make cooking videos and upload them to Youtube and Instagram. On July 29, 2021, the jury judged and determined the winners.

On July 1, 2021 was the closing ceremony and winner announcement. I was so thankful and grateful to God because in my first competition I could be the 3rd winner of this competition. I was also grateful to my lecturers especially Chef Nurul and Chef Farah who gave me a lot of guidance, tips, and supports from the start until the end of the competition. And I also want to say thank you to my family and friends who supported me in this competition.

My experience in participating Hospitour 2021 was so precious to me because this was my first cooking competition. I got many pieces of knowledge and experiences when I participated in this competition and because of that my passion for cooking is growing more.

 

I hope the experiences that I shared could motivate the readers to believe and never give up to fight whatever you want to achieve because when you want to achieve something, you must give your best works and efforts
