Hotel Management Students Achieved the Best Paper Award at The International Conference on Digital Applications, Transformation, and Economy (ICDATE) 2023, in Sarawak, Malaysia

For the very first time ever, Hotel Management students at Bina Nusantara University attended The International Conference on Digital Applications, Transformation, and Economy (ICDATE) 2023 in Malaysia. These students are final year students who were taking final project (skripsi) by publication. Lead by Mr. Dendy Rosman, BHospMgmt., M.Buss (Hotel Management Lecturer), 8 hotel management students presented their research in front of participants that come from various countries including America, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, South Africa, and South Korea.

The final year students from Binus Hotel Management (Binusian 23) who participated in this conference are Sadrakh Richardson, Laurencia Feriska, Anton, Marcellino, Paulina, Vincent Kuonadi, Christopher, and Felicia Jovanka. Their research findings presentation received appreciation from the committees and conference participants. Most importantly, one group of students (Laurencia Feriska, Anton, Marcellino) was awarded The Best Paper for Digital Tourism category. This group was supervised by Dr. Tiurida Lily Anita. The title of their research is Managing Repatronage Intention with Technology Acceptance Model. This achievement is a proof that vocational study program like Binus Hotel Management students was also capable of producing scientific article that aim to contribute to solve the hospitality challenges and issues.

The International Conference on Digital Applications, Transformation, and Economy (ICDATE) 2023 is a collaborative effort between Curtin University Malaysia and University of Technology Sarawak, in partnership with the IEEE Malaysia Section Signal Processing Society. The conference aims to showcase the latest advancements and research findings in the field, focusing on the theme of Digital World for Sustainable Future. The International Conference on Data Analytics and Technology in Education (ICDATE) 2023 was scheduled to take place in the city of Miri, Malaysia, from the 14th to the 16th of July 2023. The conference theme, which entitled “Digital world for sustainable future” is the process of leveraging digital technologies to create a future which is environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable. The conference will cover diverse areas of interest, including, but not limited to, Digital Technology (AI, Big Data, Blockchain), SmartTech, FinTech, EdTech, Digital Transformation (Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing), Digital Services, E-Government, E-Governance, Digital Tourism, Cyber Security, Digital Media and Communication, and Digital Applications in Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering.

The conference was conducted in a physical setting, with the aim of facilitating the gathering of prominent researchers, engineers, and scientists from around the world. This year, approximately 200 participants joining the conference, creating a dynamic and enriching environment for intellectual exchange and networking opportunities.
