The Australian Embassy is working with MasterChef Australia to host the Taste of Australia 2024 event in Indonesia to mark the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries seventy-five years ago. The purpose of this festival is to highlight the variety of uses and fresh Australian products that are currently accessible in Indonesia.

Brent Draper, the 2023 MasterChef Australia winner, added even more specialness to the occasion, which took place on June 24, 2024. Sharing knowledge and experiences at Binus University, which hosted Taste of Australia 2024 in Jakarta, was one of Brent’s primary activities when he was in Indonesia.

The primary venue for this event is BINUS @Kemanggisan, Anggrek Campus. The culinary demonstration led by Brent Draper and experience sharing session is one of the most engaging events at Taste of Australia. Students in the Hotel Management and Business Hotel Management programs have the chance to learn directly from this well-known chef.

First Secretary Public Diplomacy from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Kristopher Maslin, emphasized that Taste of Australia is proof of the good relations between Indonesia and Australia through food. “Relations between Indonesia and Australia are very good. I hope that BINUS University students can learn the things I experienced while living in Australia, especially in the culinary field,” he said.

In a 45-minute cooking demonstration session at the Kitchen Lab & Restaurant Area BINUS @Kemanggisan, Chef Brent Draper showed his skills by making a delicious Australian specialty dish, . Binus Hotel Management and Business Hotel Management Bekasi students also took part in this cooking process, they also gained practical and valuable experience in processing lamb cutlets into very delicious food.
