Empowering Healthy Eating Through Local Ingredients: “Nusantara on the Plate” Workshop at SMAN 55 Jakarta
The “Nusantara on the Plate: How to Eat Local & Healthy” workshop held at SMAN 55 Jakarta aimed to enhance students’ understanding of healthy eating by utilizing nutrient-rich local Indonesian ingredients. Led by Dr. Aditya Nova Putra and assisted by two students, the program began with an interactive session on balanced nutrition, the “eat local” concept, and the importance of sustainable food choices, followed by a hands-on group activity where participants prepared two dishes: Vietnamese Spring Roll and Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap.
Throughout the practical session, students were encouraged to creatively adapt these international menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients while maintaining nutritional balance. The participants of students were 45 students from Senior High School and it was held at 23rd april 2026 at 8AM-10AM.
By combining theory with experiential learning, the workshop successfully enabled students to apply simple, healthy cooking techniques while fostering greater awareness of sustainable and nutritious eating habits among the younger generation.
